Thorvi — Complete Hero Guide (Season X29)
Who is Thorvi?

Thorvi is a Cavalry hero released in Season X29, and he has already established himself as one of the strongest physical carries in the game. In tests against elite footmen compositions (Alexander + Achilles + La Hire), Thorvi alone accounted for over 190,000 skill kills in nearly every battle — often dealing more damage than his two teammates combined.
If you're looking for a hero who carries the battle on raw damage, survives to the end, and shuts down enemy healing on top of it, Thorvi is exactly that.

How Thorvi works (the 3 skills)
What makes Thorvi so strong isn't any single skill — it's the way all three chain together in a single turn, creating a cascade of attacks. Let's break it down.
1. Thunderlance Thrust
After each normal attack, Thorvi has a 70% chance to fire an additional strike for 450% physical damage to a random enemy.
But the detail that makes the difference is the secondary effect: every time it triggers, Thorvi gains +5% Evasion and +10% Fatal Blow chance, stacking up to 5 times. In other words, the longer the battle goes, the more Thorvi dodges attacks and the more he lands devastating critical strikes. He literally becomes more dangerous over time.
2. Shadow Flurry
This is the heart of Thorvi's damage. When activated, it grants Combo (normal attack +1, stacks twice) — meaning Thorvi starts attacking multiple times per turn.
And here's the magic: while Combo is active, after every normal attack, Thorvi unleashes 405% physical damage to ALL enemies at once (area damage). Each Shadow Flurry also applies Devour Mend, which blocks the target's healing.
It's this combination — Combo (more attacks) + Shadow Flurry (AoE after each attack) + Thunderlance (extra strike after each attack) — that creates the cascade. In a single turn, Thorvi can chain: attack → Shadow Flurry AoE → Thunderlance → another attack → Shadow Flurry again… That's why he racks up 70 to 110 skill uses per battle and clears all three enemy squads at once.
3. Whizzing Flash
The status skill that shields Thorvi and amplifies everything:
Immunity to counterattacks — see the next section, because this is huge.
Each Fatal Blow triggered increases the damage of subsequent Fatal Blows by +120%, stacking up to +600%. Combined with the Fatal Blow gain from Thunderlance, this turns Thorvi into a snowball of critical damage.
When he dodges an attack, he reduces the skill cooldown of all allies — speeding up the entire team.
Thorvi hard-counters counterattack heroes
This deserves its own section because it's one of Thorvi's most underrated strengths. Thanks to Whizzing Flash, Thorvi is immune to counterattacks — which means an entire category of heroes simply doesn't work against him:
Alexander (skinned version) — his counterattack does nothing to Thorvi.
Harald — his counterattack is wasted.
Don Quixote — counterattack neutralized.
Lagertha — she grants counterattack to the front-row hero, and that buff is useless against Thorvi.
If your opponent is leaning on counterattack damage to punish aggressors, Thorvi walks right through it. He keeps attacking freely while their revenge mechanic sits dead in the water.
Achilles + Sacred Realm: the only real check (and why Thorvi still wins)
The one mechanic that genuinely interferes with Thorvi is Achilles' Sacred Realm:
Achilles activates Sacred Realm, making all friendly and enemy squads immune to Fatal Blow and Destructive Strike. When any friendly squad's HP drops below 50% for the first time, it immediately restores a large amount of troop power (recovery rate: 500%) and makes the squad deal +50% damage and take −50% damage for 3 rounds.
Because Sacred Realm makes everyone immune to Fatal Blow, it shuts off Thorvi's Fatal Blow entirely — and that also kills the engine behind Whizzing Flash (the +120%-per-stack bonus only builds when Fatal Blow triggers). On paper, that sounds like a hard counter.
Here's the key insight: it isn't. Even with Achilles + Sacred Realm on the field, Thorvi still posted 187,000 to 236,000 skill kills in every test. Why? Because Thorvi's core damage doesn't depend on Fatal Blow at all — it comes from the raw numbers: Thunderlance's 450%, Shadow Flurry's 405% AoE, and the extra attacks from Combo. Fatal Blow is the bonus, not the foundation.
And that leads to the most important takeaway for team building:
If Achilles + Sacred Realm can't stop Thorvi, then removing Achilles makes Thorvi even deadlier. Without Sacred Realm suppressing him, Thorvi's Fatal Blow fires freely, Whizzing Flash stacks all the way to +600%, and his already-massive damage climbs even higher. So against any defense without an Achilles holding Sacred Realm, Thorvi is at his absolute most lethal.
Another point is that the Devour Mend status of Thorvi's Shadow Flurry ability prevents the target from receiving any kind of healing while it is active; and the healing is not only blocked - in fact, it turns into damage due to the Attrition effect. Therefore, instead of healing minions, the squad suffers damage equal to the amount they would have healed. In other words, any attempt to heal the target turns into damage, and teams that heal a lot suffer even more damage, as is the case with Alexander + Achilles, Geraint. It is also important to note that this status cannot yet be dispelled.
Strengths
Absolute carry damage. In every test he was the battle's top damage dealer, by a wide margin. 190k+ skill kills is his baseline, not his ceiling.
Constant area damage. Shadow Flurry hits all three enemy squads repeatedly — he doesn't "pick" a target, he melts everyone.
Scales with time. Evasion and Fatal Blow grow every round. In long battles (7–8 rounds) he becomes monstrous.
Counters counterattack heroes. Alexander (skin), Harald, Don Quixote, and Lagertha's granted counter all do nothing to him.
Doesn't rely on Fatal Blow. Even when Sacred Realm shuts off crits, his base kit carries — and when crits are available, he's terrifying.
Very high survivability. Despite being a carry, Thorvi ends battles with ~100,000 troops alive, thanks to evasion and counter immunity.
Built-in anti-heal. Devour Mend disrupts teams that depend on regeneration.
Weaknesses
Needs to ramp. In round 1, Thorvi is still "warming up" (few Evasion / Fatal Blow stacks). His power spike comes from round 3 onward.
Vulnerable to Silence and Crowd Control. If the enemy silences him early, the attack cascade breaks and his damage drops sharply.
Not a tank or support. He delivers damage, but doesn't heal the team or hold the front line — he needs teammates who fill those roles.
Wants the Mid/Back row. Placing him in front wastes his evasion and exposes him too much.
Synergies — skills and heroes
Thorvi shines on his own, but he explodes when paired with heroes that shut down enemy healing and defense, clearing the way for his area damage.
Skill synergy: the "heal lock"
Thorvi's Devour Mend already blocks healing. When you stack that with heroes who carry anti-heal and heal punishment, the enemy simply can't sustain:
Cyrus (Epic Conqueror): applies anti-heal to the targets he hits, reinforcing Thorvi's block.
Ragnar (Odin's Might): whenever an enemy squad tries to restore troops, all enemy damage drops −5% and the damage they take rises +5% (stacks up to 10 times). Against healing teams this becomes a death spiral — and it also grants Fatal Blow chance to allies, feeding Thorvi's Whizzing Flash.
Thedora, Hannibal, Geraint, Don Quixote, Percival, Roland, Al-hawra, Robin Hood...
Tested hero combos (and proven)
These three compositions were tested in real battles with excellent results:
Cyrus + Ragnar + Thorvi — won 10 out of 10 against Alexander + Achilles + La Hire. Ragnar locks the healing, Cyrus drains and debuffs, Thorvi clears everything with AoE. The most consistent comp.
Cyrus + Theodora + Thorvi — won 10 out of 10 against the same defense. Theodora adds control and damage redirection, protecting Thorvi while he ramps.
Don Quixote + Thorvi + Cyrus — won 5 out of 5 against a heavy mirror (Don + Theodora + Cyrus with skins). Don Quixote's Might steal weakens the enemy before Thorvi moves in to finish.
Team-building tip: put Thorvi in the Back row, an anti-heal/control support in the Mid row (Ragnar, Theodora, or Cyrus), and a hero who weakens the enemy up front. Let Thorvi ramp — from round 3 onward, he wins the battle on his own.

Verdict
Thorvi is a top-tier (S-tier) cavalry carry for PvP. He combines absurd area damage, high survivability, a snowball mechanic (Evasion + Fatal Blow), and a hard counter to an entire class of counterattack heroes. Even his theoretical check — Achilles' Sacred Realm — fails to stop him, and removing it only makes him deadlier. If you have Thorvi, build your team around him: give him anti-heal and control from teammates, protect him in the Mid/Back, and let the attack cascade do the rest.
In one sentence: Thorvi doesn't take part in the battle — he decides it.
